Now that I am at home, rested and relaxed, 1 final email to say thanks to all. This was perhaps THE BEST tournament we have had. The umpires were spectacular, please extend my thanks to FIBS for sending us 2 top notch, quality local Italian umpires (maybe FIBS will one day invite me over to cover one of their games or at least make me an honorary member at large, LOL). Your staff was INCREDIBLE.
I had the time of my life.
Here is a collection of my daily recaps of the tournament. Not even sure you knew I was putting these together, I posted daily to Facebook. I will leave it up to you who should be provided a copy of this (Beata, Williamsport, etc.). Choose wisely!

BEATA, the Walt Disney of Europe or at least Europe-Africa Baseball, she makes the magic
happen. She hands out the assignments each year. Every year, I wait patiently to get an invite.
Never expected!! But when it comes, I am like a little child, giddy with excitement. Thanks

Senior Beppe, Allesandro, Tournament Committee, groundskeepers, food staff and fellow
umpires. Nothing could happen without all of you. Everyone has a job and everyone does it well.
I would like to personally say thanks to Senior Beppe. He has been a very close friend for many
years. Our friendship is one of the reasons I keep coming back
This year we had 5 umpires. 2 for Italy, 1 from the UK and 2 from the USA. These guys rocked
the tournament. They came together and worked as a team. I would work with any of them,
anywhere! Our 4 man rotations were near perfect. We debriefed after each game, by the time
we made it to the championship, SPECTACULAR. I am proud to call all of them friend. Also,
Faith, Greg’s wife helped us out so much, she made sure we had water or whatever was
needed. Thanks Faith, YOU ROCK.
Friends, Sam Griffith, Jeff Chapman, John K. You guys do not know how important you are in
my umpiring ways. John K. was always looking for someone to go to Europe to umpire and I
took him up on this back in 2005, the rest is history. Sam, Jeff and I met on my very first trip to
Europe in 2005, Poland. They helped me develop my game but most importantly they taught me
about “Getting it”. I have got it, but it never ends. Not sure that these 3 guys know how much
they have had a positive influence on my game AND MY LIFE! Thanks guys!!!!
My Kaiser family physician and physical therapist. What!? 6 weeks before I was to leave for
this journey, I tried running and found that my year long issue with my sciatic nerve was still a
major issue. I debated cancelling the trip because I could not run without some serious pain.
We have a saying, no one out hustles an umpire and I wasn’t going to be left standing or
walking around the field. Luckily I went and saw my family physician who prescribed some anti-
inflammatory pills and a trip to a physical therapist who gave me some stretching exercises.
Still in the back of my mind, I was worried. Turns out, I got on the field and I could move, I could
run!!!! Thanks Kaiser.
STANLEY, my father passed away many years ago but his legacy lives on within me. I am so
much like him. Able to make friends wherever I go. Able to relate to places wherever in the
world that people say they are from. His love for life, love for family, love for travel has been
passed onto me. Heck, my hairline is starting to look like his, SCAREY!! Thanks dad for making
me the person I am today!!!
My dear wife Susan. She should be given a huge medal for putting up with me disrupting our
lives each year during baseball season and even a bigger medal for letting me chase that little
white ball in Europe. All of this could not have happened without her saying yes to these
adventures. I think I owe her another vacation! Thanks Susan, I love you!

Vorrei ringraziare personalmente il Senior Beppe. Per molti è stato un caro amico
anni. La nostra amicizia è uno dei motivi per cui continuo a tornare
Quest’anno abbiamo avuto 5 arbitri. 2 per l’Italia, 1 dal Regno Unito e 2 dagli USA. Questi ragazzi hanno spaccato
il torneo. Si sono riuniti e hanno lavorato come una squadra. Lavorerei con qualcuno di loro,
ovunque! Le nostre rotazioni da 4 uomini erano quasi perfette. Abbiamo fatto il debriefing dopo ogni partita, in base al tempo
siamo arrivati al campionato, SPETTACOLARE. Sono orgoglioso di chiamarli tutti amici. Anche,
Faith, la moglie di Greg ci ha aiutato così tanto che si è assicurata che avessimo acqua o qualunque cosa fosse

Amici, Sam Griffith, Jeff Chapman, John K. Ragazzi, non sapete quanto siete importanti
i miei modi di arbitrare. John K. era sempre alla ricerca di qualcuno che andasse in Europa ad arbitrare ed io
lo ha affrontato nel 2005, il resto è storia. Sam, Jeff e io ci siamo incontrati durante il mio primo viaggio a
L’Europa nel 2005, la Polonia. Mi hanno aiutato a sviluppare il mio gioco ma soprattutto mi hanno insegnato
su “Ottenere”. Ce l’ho, ma non finisce mai. Non sono sicuro che questi 3 ragazzi sappiano quanto
hanno avuto un’influenza positiva sul mio gioco E sulla MIA VITA! Grazie ragazzi!!!!
Il mio medico di famiglia e fisioterapista Kaiser. Che cosa!? 6 settimane prima della partenza per
durante questo viaggio, ho provato a correre e ho scoperto che il mio problema durato un anno con il nervo sciatico era ancora un
problema serio. Ho discusso dell’annullamento del viaggio perché non potevo correre senza forti dolori.
Abbiamo un detto, nessuno spinge un arbitro e non sarei rimasto in piedi o
camminando per il campo. Per fortuna sono andato dal mio medico di famiglia che mi ha prescritto alcuni anti-
pillole infiammatorie e una visita da un fisioterapista che mi ha prescritto alcuni esercizi di stretching.
Ancora nel profondo della mia mente, ero preoccupato. Si scopre che sono entrato in campo e potevo muovermi, potevo
correre!!!! Grazie Kaiser.
STANLEY, mio padre è morto molti anni fa, ma la sua eredità continua a vivere dentro di me. Sono così
molto simile a lui. In grado di fare amicizia ovunque vada. In grado di relazionarsi con luoghi ovunque nel
